Gradlink Where are they now?

Class of 1979

John Davies (Economics, Politics and Sociology)
I am working as a probation officer in Nottingham at present. I have a partner and two sons aged 11 and eight. Still in touch with a number of friends from Hull. Best wishes to all who remember 1976–79 who may be reading this.

Anthony Smith (Law)
A determined impression of Peter Pan ended when Lesley clipped my wings at the ripe young age of 37. Time to breed I thought. Old faithful was fully functional and there are now three little Smiths! Peter Pan has escaped, I jacked in the plc rat race … 25 days holiday. Who are they kidding? Taken the kids out of school and am pogging off round the world to see what’s out there … leaving April returning September or sometime. On our return we will be setting up a coaching business to help other worthy souls over the wall. What’s the difference between a rut and a grave? A grave has got ends! I’d love to hear from other 70’s icons. There still is no finer ale than a good pint of Tetley’s … especially at 12p a pint.

John Staniforth
On returning to the academic fold with the Open University, I obtained a first, which allowed me to go on and achieve a PhD at Keele University. I am presently doing post doc work in the school of Chemistry and Physics at Keele University.

Margaret Vandepeer (nee Mullarkey) (Mathematics)
Living in SW London. Married with two small boys and a part time job. I am a software manager, though I have somehow got the job of an integrated logistics support manager at the moment.

Stephen Jones (Music)
I would be delighted to hear from anyone who remembers me from the Music Dept or from Grant Hall or the Lawns generally. As ‘midlife’ is now writ large, I’m getting quite nostalgic!
