University archaeologist Dr Henry Chapman has joined the line-up for Channel 4’s popular Time Team programme, which investigates mysteries of the past.

Dr Chapman, a Research Fellow in the University’s Wetland Archaeology and Environments Research Centre, is featuring regularly in the new series.

Previously an Archaeological Field Officer with the Royal Commission on Historic Monuments of England in Exeter, Dr Chapman has particular interests in landscape archaeology and aerial photography. He is also interested in the use of satellite-based global information systems, which are increasingly valued by archaeologists as a means of mapping sites and features.
Dr Chapman said: ‘Working with Tony Robinson and the rest of the Time Team has been a great experience and I look forward to seeing the programmes go out.’

The growing interest in archaeology has led to the University establishing two new degree courses in the subject, Geography and Archaeology and History and Archaeology, which will both start this September.
